ANKARA, April 26 – RIA Novosti. The main opposition Republican people’s party of Turkey (CHP) challenged the results of last April 16 constitutional referendum in the European court of human rights (ECHR), said the official representative of the party Celine Siek Beck.
“We will go to ECHR regarding the outcome of the referendum,” said Beck told reporters.
Constitutional referendum in Turkey on the transition to parliamentary system of government in the presidential ended with the victory of supporters of President Tayyip Erdogan, with a slight advantage. According to preliminary results, they have won 51.4% of votes. The opposition demanded the cancellation of the results of the referendum, in particular, citing the illegality of the decision of the election Committee to count valid ballots and envelopes without stamps. However, the electoral Commission dismissed the appeal, and the Supreme court of Turkey has refused to consider a lawsuit filed by IUU fishing.
