Moscow. April 24. INTERFAX – the Russian Association of centers for study of religions and sects (RACERS) welcomed the decision of the Supreme court to recognize “Jehovah’s Witnesses” extremist organization and ban its activities in the country.
“We regard the decision as a legitimate act of justice, humanity and good will of the state directed on protection of human rights and to improve the socio-political situation in our country”, – reads the statement of the legal centre of protection of the rights and dignity of the person at RACERS received on Monday, “Interfax-Religion”.
According to experts, the organization of Jehovah’s witnesses “differed hostile attitude towards our country, our people, our traditions”.
“This is a special danger for our people used in the organization to suppress the will of the people, outright mental manipulation, similar to the methods that are used in openly terrorist organizations”, – said in a statement.
The authors referred to the practice of this sect, associated with the forced refusal of blood transfusions, the collection of information about Russian citizens to transfer them to the parent organization in the United States.
“Like all totalitarian sect “Jehovah’s Witnesses” conducted hostile activities against the institution of the family. They were destroying families, taking people in their pseudonimo, they deprive people of property destroyed peculiar to our society’s traditional values, replacing them with its purely sectarian psychological attitudes,” said sectologists.
RACERS – an organization created in 2006 and unifying the regional centres on the problem of totalitarian sects. It is headed by well-known antisectarian expert Alexander Dvorkin.
As reported, on April 20, the Supreme court acknowledged “Jehovah’s Witnesses” extremist organization. Thus was satisfied the administrative claim of the Ministry of justice.
The organization “Jehovah’s Witnesses” regularly became the object of attention of Supervisory authorities in all regions of Russia, in some regions, its activities were banned.
Earlier, the Russian Supreme court recognized lawful the decision on liquidation of the territorial offices of “Jehovah’s Witnesses” in Orel, Stary Oskol and Belgorod, Abinsk of Krasnodar Krai, Samara, Birobidzhan and other cities. The local branch of the organization was repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility for distribution of extremist materials in Tyumen, Cherepovets, Samara, Saransk, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, Gelendzhik and other cities.
