The Murmansk. April 17. INTERFAX – command of the Northern fleet presented Svyato-Andriyivsky Cathedral of the sea the temple of Severomorsk two Admiralty anchors as a gift for Easter.
“Now the entrance of the main temple of the diocese of the North sea is decorated with two Admiralty anchors. Thus, with the direct support of the command of the Northern fleet continues the formation of the external appearance of the naval Cathedral, naval diocese,” according to the diocesan website.
The intent of the donors, the cross-anchor, along with St. Andrew’s flag reflects the “centuries-old unity of the Church and the Russian Navy”.
In August 2016, the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill consecrated the St. Andrew’s Cathedral Church of Severomorsk. A new Church in honor of the patron Saint of sailors – St. Andrew – is to become the chief of the naval Cathedral on the Kola North.
