Moscow. April 13. INTERFAX – Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine Onufry in response to the request of the mothers of Ukrainian prisoners of war has promised to facilitate their release.
“I know, mother, for the child ready to go not that on the territory of hostilities, but in fire and in water. We communicate, we will try to help you,” the Metropolitan said at the meeting with women in Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, the press service of Information Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
He expressed the hope that “the result will be.” In turn, mothers of prisoners of war gave the Primate a letter with the names of these soldiers.
In turn, the head of the outreach Department of the UOC Bishop of Irpen Clement reported that the participation of the Church freed more than 15 people, and recently, Orthodox priests were able to visit those in captivity, to hear confessions and to give communion to them for Easter.
“We feel that there is hope for the release of all our prisoners so they could return to their native land. Many different difficulties along the way, but we rely on God and use all resources that are in the Church,” – said the Hierarch.
Previously great response received the release in December of last year the Ukrainian prisoner of war Taras Kolodiy. It was held with the participation of Patriarch Kirill and Metropolitan Onufriy. T. Kolodiy, who participated in the fighting in the Donetsk airport, was freed after two years captivity in Donetsk, without preconditions.
