Michael Carrick and co are no longer in the denial of Manchester United failures

Michael Carrick has pronounced himself “completely disappointed” with Manchester United and their 1-1 draw against Anderlecht, perfectly summarizes what a lot of fans have been feeling for several seasons. The mid-field point, is that the game, and can even be the result of more than two legs were there for the taking, but United could not rouse themselves to do what the great teams do and make a statement of intent against a host of opponents. “It was almost too easy at times,” Carrick said. “We weren’t quite ruthless and now we find ourselves with one of those scorelines where it is dangerous.”

Perhaps it is not necessary for the Organization to fight too. They have an away goal and all the chances of qualification to the Europa League semi-final when Anderlecht at Old Trafford on Thursday, and there was even some evidence, in Belgium, as Marcus Rashford of form and confidence might be back.

On the other hand, the visit of Chelsea on Sunday afternoon is bound to put a low-power – season in perspective. This is not only the gap of 18 points between Jose Mourinho and the team of Antonio Conte’s runaway leaders, or the fact that the United 21 matches without defeat in the league since their 4-0 thumping at Stamford Bridge last October, failed to make an impression on the first four because of the number of prints.

The uncomfortable truth is that Conte has made in London that Mourinho was supposed to arrive at Manchester. He has taken players who have made so little concern for Mourinho last season and, with a few additions and changes in the system, they look unstoppable.

Chelsea already look capable of being a force in the Champions League next season, while United do not know if they will qualify and, as Carrick frankly admitted, are a way out to the required standard anyway. Mourinho may argue for a time, but Conte is in his first season in a new club too and United fans are becoming a little tired with successive managers say the same thing.

This United side may be a little in front of the Louis van Gaal version for the consistency and entertainment value, even if it is not a great success, with the bar so low. The league clearly states that united States is not about to get ahead of the Premier League, the teams of the question, and the statistics are available to show why. After 30 games, United have exactly the same number of wins (15) that David Moyes has been able to boast of the same scene, and two less than Van Gaal in his first season. In terms of points, Mourinho is two short of his immediate predecessor’s total, while the number of goals of 46 is lower than under both Moyes and Van Gaal.

Mourinho has been telling everyone for the last few weeks that this is because everyone, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been wasteful with chances. However, if it is true that the Organization of the league of return would be even sorrier without the Swedish 17-goal contribution, the fact is that low scoring seasons are becoming the norm at Old Trafford. Van Gaal last season, United finished on 49 goals, easily the lowest total in the top eight and 10 less than the same as Chelsea, who were considered to have had a bad campaign. The previous season saw a healthy return of 62 States claimed fourth place with the fourth highest number of goals, while in the isolation Moyes closing of the counting of 64 looks good until it is recalled that Manchester City and Liverpool both reached three figures as they tussled for the title.

It is, for some time – have been regularly hitting the mid-four-twenty goals in a league season, and Mourinho’s assertion that Javier Hernandez could have contributed with 20 goals in now could be considered a wishful thinking, given that it has reached this figure only once in his time in Manchester.

Of course United would be better with a few more goals – which team wouldn’t? – if the drab performances against West Brom, Everton and Anderlecht pointed out that the most disappointing aspect of the development team. Namely, it has not really been any. If United are in transition under Moyes and Van Gaal, they therefore remain under Mourinho.

Compared to the way Chelsea and Spurs have pushed on this season, there has been little to stir the imagination or set the pulse racing, something stressed at the PFA player of the year shortlist has been released. Chelsea had two players among the six proposals are sound and artists such as David Luiz, Gary Cahill and Victor Moses might have felt a little unlucky to be overlooked. Mauricio Pochettino has argued, with reason, that Dele Alli is a cry that Harry Kane and the spurs back line could also have provided a portion of the deserving candidates.

Would quibble with Ibrahimovic of inscription on the list; he has been phenomenal this season, and 35 is carrying the team, a point he has not been too shy to do it. But beyond an exceptional attacker, -the quality of the falls suddenly. Who else has done something as an award-winning contribution this season? Not of Paul Pogba, for all of the costs. Not Rashford, or Anthony Martial, for all their promise of last season. Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia have been consistent, and Carrick reliable when it is called, but that is all.

Wayne Rooney has lost his place in the side, Carrick is the same age as Ibrahimovic, and the manager has started to criticize some of his players in public. Then this could be the stage of the season when the Organization is finally forced to choose between the fate of a top-four place and focus on the Europa League, the holy grail of Champions League qualification may raise more questions than answers.

Of the Sunday, the two teams, Chelsea look a side ready for a challenge beyond what the Premier League can offer, but in reality, their greatest challenge of the next season could be hanging on to their best players, maybe even their manager. That life from above, nothing is static, and that is exactly why the disciples may not be happy with the heavy task of stasis.
