Tbilisi. 13 Feb. INTERFAX – the Chief Prosecutor of Georgia Irakli Shotadze declined to answer the question of whether the detainee had planned on 10 February at the Tbilisi airport by deacon George Mamaladze poisoning of Patriarch Ilia II, who is undergoing medical treatment in Germany.
“I did not say at the briefing about the attempt to poison the Patriarch. I was talking about the information, the evidence and the charges that we have. At this stage, carried out many investigations. About a specific person to say now is not advisable as it can damage the interests of the investigation. We know about this particular individual, against which was preparing an attempt of poisoning,” said I. Shotadze reporters.
He noted that the investigation has audio and video and charges, but at this stage, disclosure is inappropriate.
Earlier in the briefing I. Shotadze announced the arrest of a deacon, the head of service for the disposal of property of the Patriarchate of Georgia Giorgi Mamaladze, preparing the murder.
According to the Prosecutor, at the airport G. Mamaladze in the Luggage had discovered a toxic substance cyanide. G. Mamaladze was heading to Berlin, where the treatment is Patriarch of all Georgia Ilia II.
