Odessa. 3 Feb. INTERFAX – Unknown robbed five Orthodox churches in Belgorod-Dniester district of Odessa region with 30 to February 2, reports a press-service of the Odessa diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
So, on the night of 1 February 2, was burglarized two churches in the Belgorod-Dniester in the village of Semenivka. The robbers, according to the diocese, entered the churches through the Windows, thus disabling the alarm.
“The criminals brutally damaged furniture, ripped priestly vestments, tried to crack safes with liturgical vessels and caused significant damage to Church property,” – noted in the diocese.
In addition, on the night of 30 January was burglarized three Church of Belgorod-Dniester deanery – St. Andrew’s Church in the village of Andreevka, piously-the Kazan temple in the village of the Okanagan lake and Church in the village Karnaliivka. In all cases, the robbery occurred in a similar scenario.
The total amount incurred by the diocese of damages and the value of the stolen property is not reported.
In connection with the robberies of Church leaders called on the police to respond to “the facts of blasphemy”.
“Manifested a criminal tendency causes great concern among Orthodox believers of the Odesa region”, – noted in the diocese, adding that in 2016 in the region have been robbed of a few dozen churches, but the criminals were not found.
