Orthodox Christmas offer to make a holiday in the United States

New York. 24 Jan. INTERFAX – Orthodox Christians are encouraged to pass a law that will make the Orthodox Christmas holiday in the United States.

Signatures under a petition they gather on the White house website, the press service of the Russian Church abroad.

The petitioners claim that every year January 7 Orthodox are forced to take time off from work or to take sick leave to attend the service in the temple. Students miss classes in schools, while members of other faiths have a legal day off.

Just need to collect 100 thousand signatures by February 5.

In the United States there are parishes in different local Orthodox churches and there are over a million Orthodox.
