The number of victims of explosion in the market of fireworks in Mexico has reached 29 people

MEXICO city, 21 Dec — RIA Novosti. The death toll in the explosion of pyrotechnics in the market town of Tultepec in Mexico has risen to 29 people, said on a press-conferences the Governor of the state of Mexico, Avila Erubiel.

Earlier, the state attorney Alejandro Gomez has officially confirmed the information about the 26 victims.

According to Avila, 26 people were killed at the scene and another three died later in hospitals. The total number of victims, the Governor was estimated at 72 people. The official assured that the local authorities will pay for the funerals of the victims.

The city of Tultepec is considered to be one of the recognized centers of Mexico on the production of pyrotechnics. San Pablito, where the incident occurred, is the largest market for the sale of such products, there are more than 300 shops.

It is reported that the explosion destroyed 290 outlets. At the time of the accident in the market there were about two thousand people, as in the Catholic Christmas eve, many people buy fireworks for celebrations.
