As informs television channel RaiNews24, the convoy of the head of the government arrived to the presidential Palace at approximately 19.10 (21.10 GMT).
For a few minutes before, in the government Palace Chigi ended in a meeting of the Council of Ministers, which lasted just over 10 minutes.
Sunday in the Apennines passed a constitutional referendum, the results of which 59,11% of the voters voted against the government-initiated reform of the Constitution. The turnout of voters on the territory of the country and abroad made 65,47%. After the vote, Renzi, who from the very beginning of the election campaign has tied his political fate to the outcome of the plebiscite, announced his intention to make President Sergio mattarella in his resignation.
