SIMFEROPOL, November 22 — RIA Novosti. National communities of Crimea appealed to the UN Secretary-General ban Ki-moon’s call to investigate and punish those responsible for the blockade of the Peninsula.
“We urge you to conduct a thorough investigation of the actions or inaction of the Ukrainian authorities, which led to the blockade of the Crimea, and to seek the punishment of perpetrators of acts of terror against the population of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol in the so-called food and energy blockade, which began in the fall of 2015,” — said in the address, the text of which is available to RIA Novosti.
Community of Crimea urged to give legal and political assessment activities, and in some cases and inaction of the Ukrainian authorities, which led to the blockade (water, transport, food, energy) of the Peninsula.
For closures, according to national-cultural societies, are the Kiev authorities and illegal armed groups operating on the border with the Crimean region.
In addition, the community asked the UN Secretary General to encourage member countries of the UN to abandon the political restrictions on cultural and humanitarian relations imposed against Crimean sanctions regime, including the prohibition on visiting Western countries the Crimean officials and deputies.
In comments to RIA Novosti the head of the Crimean government Committee on inter-ethnic relations and deported citizens Zaur Smirnov announced that the appeal was unanimously adopted at the conference of national-cultural autonomies of the Republic.
“The national community of the Crimea showed their consolidation, and their opinion reflects the position of the Crimeans who want to be heard by the international community”, — said Smirnov.
