The relations between the Georgian and Russian Orthodox churches can be called an example for politicians of the two States, one of the results of this interaction can be called the growing number of pilgrims and tourists from Russia, said the Catholicos-Patriarch of all Georgia Ilia II at the meeting with Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill on Saturday.
“Relations between our Churches are of great importance for our countries and our peoples. We give an example to our political leaders regarding relations between our countries. I must say that never in recent years did not have so many tourists from Russia as it is now, and we are very happy”, — said the Primate of the Georgian Church came to Moscow on celebrations on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Patriarch Kirill.
He added that both Churches should do everything to improve relations between our political leaders. “I think that we will succeed”, — said the Catholicos.
In turn, the first Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church said relations with the Church of Georgia, “a bond between two hearts,” without which there can be good relations between peoples. He said that increasingly signed petitions with the request to bless a trip to the Georgian shrines, and hopes in an interview with Ilia II to discuss issues of lives of Russian-speaking Christians living on the territory of Georgia.
