MOSCOW, 15 Nov — RIA Novosti. The international space station (ISS) can survive to 2028, told reporters on Tuesday the Director of the Rocket-space Corporation (RKK) Energia Vladimir Solntsev.
“Maybe the ISS will be continued resource. We discussed today the possibility of using the station until 2028” — he said at the conference “Problems and prospects of economic development and training for high-tech industries. PFUR and space: 55 years together.”
Under current international agreements, the ISS needs a regular work out to 2024. After that, the orbit may become only the Russian segment (RS) of the station.
According to Solntseva, in the development of the ISS until 2024 lays the possibility of further use of the segment as a standalone Russian station.
