MOSCOW, 14 Nov RIA Novosti. The authors of the monument to the ballerina Maya Plisetskaya set ourselves the task to create the illusion of soaring sculpture in the air. They told about it at a press conference on Monday.
The square by the name of Maya Plisetskaya appeared on the Big Dmitrovka in Moscow a year ago. The initiator of the monument Plisetskaya became her husband, composer Rodion Shchedrin. The initiative was supported by the Russian Ministry of culture, to accumulate extra-budgetary funding for the project, and businessman Alisher Usmanov, founder of Foundation “Art, science and sport”.
The monument will open on the 20th of November, the birthday of Maya Plisetskaya. To participate in the ceremony will Shchedrin, the Minister of culture Vladimir Medinsky, artists of the Bolshoi theater, said at a press conference, Deputy Minister of culture Alexander Zhuravsky.
Project architect Alexei Tikhonov explained that the author’s group “it was difficult to determine the scale of the monument.”
“To find him, we have established a silhouette layout in the size of the structures, actively move it on the square. Our main task was to create the illusion of soaring ballerina in the sky. In our view, it is possible the sculpture is floating in the air,” he said.
The author of the sculpture became an honored artist of Russia Viktor Mitroshin, personally acquainted with the dancer.
“Rodion Shchedrin is not just made adjustments to my work, and twisted me inside out.
