MOSCOW, 12 Nov RIA Novosti. About 46 thousand people remain without electricity in three regions of Central and Volga Federal districts after a powerful cyclone with freezing rain causing icing, reported RIA Novosti a source in the emergency services.

On Friday in many regions of Russia was freezing rain, then change to zero temperature came freezing with heavy snowfall that caused the formation of black ice on the roads, damage to power lines, falling trees.

“As a result of the breaking of lines in the Nizhniy Novgorod region left without electricity 360 settlements with a population of over 34 thousand people; in the Kirov region 130 settlements in which live over 10 thousand people; in the Tver region 117 settlements with a population of more than 2 thousand people”, said the Agency interlocutor.

According to him, emergency repair work affected by the disaster regions are expected to be completed by 20.00 GMT Saturday.
