Died Soviet astronomer who discovered the comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko

KIEV, 15 Nov — RIA Novosti. Famous Soviet and Ukrainian astronomer Klim Churyumov died on 80-m to year of life in Ukraine, said the Deputy Director of the Kiev planetarium Elena Dirdovsky.

“The astronomer died suddenly when he was in the road on the way to Kharkiv. Ukrainian scientist has died on 80-m to year of life,” said Dirdovsky TV channel NewsOne.

Churyumov first known discovery in 1969 of the comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko, to which in 2014-2015 had the attention of the world media in connection with the study of celestial bodies by the European space Agency probe Rosetta.

On the comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko in 2014 after a decade of flight for the first time in history, landed an unmanned probe Rosetta. Scientists hoped that data collected during the study of the comet data will reveal “the secrets of the universe”.
