The Ministry of justice sent US a request for transmission of pilot Yaroshenko

The Ministry of justice of Russia sent a request to the competent authorities of the United States on the transfer of pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko to serve his sentence at home. It is reported TASS with reference to the Ministry of justice.

The Ministry noted that upon receipt of required documents from the American side of the issue will be considered in accordance with the provisions of the Convention on the transfer of sentenced persons of 1983 and of the Russian legislation.

Under the Convention, for the transfer of the sentenced home must be received a copy of the verdict, which must be approved by a Russian court.

At the end of September Yaroshenko signed the formal consent to transfer from the USA to Russia. Deputy foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Ryabkov said that Moscow had invited US to convert Yaroshenko Americans, prisoners in Russia.

In an interview with the newspaper “Izvestia” he Yaroshenko said that the Federal Bureau of prisons, the U.S. launched the process of his extradition to Russia. The Ministry of justice of Russia this information have not confirmed.

Yaroshenko was recognized by the American court convicted of involvement in the transportation of large quantities of cocaine into the United States from Liberia in 2011 was sentenced to 20 years in prison. According to investigators, Yaroshenko was smuggling drugs from Venezuela to the US via Africa.
