The Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe announced that Crimean issue will not be discussed in the negotiations on the “Northern territories,” reports NHK.

“We are in negotiations regarding the Northern territories. And in these negotiations, of course, we do not discuss the Crimea”, — he said.

In the framework of the negotiations on the “Northern territories,” Japan plans to make Russia return the four Kuril Islands — Iturup, Kunashir, Shikotan and Habomai. Instead, Japan proposed to conclude a peace Treaty.

Earlier in mass media appeared information that Tokyo is prepared to agree to the two Islands — Shikotan and Habomai. However, the Japanese foreign Ministry denied this information, reported by TASS.

Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe on 3 September asked Vladimir Putin to “put an end” to the situation of the “Northern territories”. According to him, that between Japan and Russia still have not signed a peace Treaty, can only be described as an abnormal situation.”
