A new modification of anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) “Buk-M3” will go into service of the southern military district in 2016. This was stated by commander of the Land forces, Colonel-General Oleg Salyukov, reports TASS.
“In the interests of the Land forces the company continues to equip air defense units with modern anti-aircraft missile systems,” — said Salyukov. Commander of the Land forces also noted that the new “Buk-MH” is vysokopatogennym SAM. In addition, one self-propelled unit capable of simultaneously firing six air targets. Ammunition “Buk-M3” is increased by half, from 4 to 6 missiles.
This summer Concern “Almaz-Antey” carried out a successful missile launch “Buk-M3” at Kapustin Yar near Astrakhan.
In December 2015 the chief of the air defense troops of the Russian ground forces, Lieutenant-General Alexander Leonov told about the creation of a unique new missiles for Buk-M3. According to him, the new missile will be more likely to destroy military targets.
