MOSCOW, 27 Sep — RIA Novosti. Ex-Chairman of the Board of MAST-Bank Alexander Chemetov and a former employee of Natalia Jailobaeva, who now heads the credit Department of the Bank “Arsenal”, was arrested on suspicion of embezzlement of billions of rubles, said on Tuesday the newspaper “Kommersant”.
In 2013, MAST-Bank was involved in a scandal with cashing more than 36 billion rubles. From 2013 to April 2015 at the Bank a few times were searched. The Bank announced that the Central Bank of the Russian Federation forbade him to attract deposits, to enter into new contracts of Bank Deposit and Bank accounts, and to credit additional funds to open accounts of physical persons.
The Bank was declared bankrupt in August 2015. The publication notes that the criminal case under article “assignment or waste in especially large scale” was initiated in January 2016 in September 2015, the Central Bank has sent to the Prosecutor General, interior Ministry and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation information on financial transactions bearing the evidence of criminal offence conducted by the former managers and owners of MAST-Bank.
The investigation revealed that shortly before the revocation of Bank licenses from it under the pretext of delivery of credits to legal entities and individuals was stolen money: the Bank had withdrawn several billion rubles. As the newspaper notes, the total owed to creditors on September 1, is about 14 billion rubles.
Chemetov and Jailobaeva was summoned for interrogation in GSU SKR in mid-September, after which he was detained and arrested Basmanny district court of Moscow for two months. According to the newspaper, on Sunday, the lawyers appealed the decision of the court of first instance, but to no avail.
