A ban on the supply of vegetables and fruits from Egypt entered into force

From 22 September in force a ban of Rosselkhoznadzor on the supply of fruits and vegetables from Egypt. The introduction of temporary restrictions, the Agency reported on 19 September.

In particular, the prohibition applies, citrus fruits, tomatoes, potatoes and other vegetables and fruits. This decision the Agency has taken due to the repeated detection in vegetables and fruits dangerous pests such as Californian thrips, potato moth and Mediterranean fruit fly. Since the beginning of this year, Egypt had identified 47 cases of delivery of contaminated products.

26 September in Moscow will arrive the delegation of Egyptian experts to discuss settlement issues with Russian specialists.

Egypt is the largest supplier of potatoes to Russia with a share of 44.4 and 33.6% in monetary terms. According to the statistics of the FCS in total for the first six months from Egypt, Russia imported vegetables and fruits for $497,3 million.
