India has expressed interest in the Russian light transport aircraft Il-112. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, reports TASS.
He said he conveyed to the Prime Minister of India, modi Narenda specifications on this aircraft. “They are pre-interested,” — said Rogozin during a visit to the Voronezh aircraft building company VASO.
The Vice-Premier said that the Il-112 can be made in both military and civil versions. The plane will be able to sit on the ground and unequipped airfields, and also to raise bulky cargo. Rogozin said that India need to maintain military forces because of the mountainous terrain in the country.
In December last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with modi, during which was discussed the development of military-technical cooperation between the two countries. As reported by then President, India and Russia are considered “promising” projects discussion development of a multifunctional fighter and a multipurpose transport aircraft.
