The government strategy in the fight against HIV is coordinated by the Federal agencies and be acceptable to the government within one to two weeks. This was announced by the Minister of health of Russia Veronika Skvortsova, reports TASS.
“This year national strategy (HIV-infection) we have developed. The strategy agreed upon by all Federal agencies and government office. It seems to us in the next week or two it will be signed,” she said.
The Minister recalled that in October 2015 the government decided on the transfer of the methodology of HIV prevention with regional on Federal level, need to connect NGOs to provide contacts with socially complex populations are at risk and to increase coverage of treatment.
Now, according to the health Ministry, in Russia there are about 850 thousand people living with HIV. “Unfortunately, over the years since the first case of HIV, we have about 200 thousand people died. So really, just over the years we have been sick more than 1 million people. But it does not give grounds to speak about the epidemic”, — said Skvortsova.
In October 2015, Skvortsova said that by 2020 the number of HIV infections in Russia could increase by 250% if the current level of funding and coverage of treatment. At the end of January 2016, the head of the Federal scientific and methodological center for prevention and control of AIDS Central research Institute of epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor Vadim Pokrovsky said that the number of HIV infections in Russia has reached 1 million people.
