The explosion in the market in the Philippines killed 12 people

The explosion at the night market in the Philippine city of Davao, killing at least 12 people, another 24 were injured. About it reports Associated Press with reference to local authorities.

As previously reported, at the time of the incident in Davao city was the President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte, previously held the position of mayor of the city. The head of state was not injured and is safe under police protection, told Reuters his son, who served as Vice-mayor of Davao.

The reasons for the explosion are not yet known, but the Associated Press notes that the city’s active terrorist group “Abu Sayyaf”. In 2014, the leader of the Islamist group has sworn allegiance to the banned terrorist organization “Islamic state”.
