The Director of the asset management Department of the Ministry of culture Boris Mazo pleaded guilty. He stated this on Thursday at a meeting of the Moscow city court, and also confirmed by his lawyer Alexei Kupriyanov.
No details on whether all of the charges he confessed, defender said. Also Kupriyanov denied that his principal may enter into a plea deal.
“Deal with the investigation as a legal fact, will not. This question is not discussed and not considered,” categorically denied Kupriyanov. He noted that his principal did not testify against other defendants in the case.
By law, in plea bargaining with the investigation the accused must report the result to some new details, for example, inform unknown episodes or the participants in the crime. Then concluded such a deal can count on a lighter sentence in court, but the process will take place under the simplified procedure.
On Thursday the Moscow city court considered the complaint Mazo to prolong his arrest. The appellate court decided to leave official custody, the lawyer said Kupriyanov.
According to the materials of the case, Mazo was accused of embezzling 100 million rubles allocated for the restoration of Novodevichy convent. In this case in March was arrested by Deputy Minister of culture Gregory Pirumov. He is also charged with committing theft in the restoration of the Drama theatre in Pskov, St. John the Baptist monastery, the Museum of Cosmonautics in Kaluga and Izborsk fortress.
