Mogherini discussed foreign Minister of Ukraine the situation in Crimea

The head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini at the meeting with the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin discussed the rising political tension between Russia and Ukraine. This follows from the statement published on the website of the European external action service.

She urged both parties to avoid actions that could lead to escalation of the conflict, and noted that a peaceful resolution of all controversial issues is only possible in this situation.

“This includes the situation in the East of Ukraine, where we encourage both parties to actively pursue the full execution of the Minsk agreements”, said Mogherini.

Earlier similar statements and suggestions were made by Vice-President Joe Biden during a telephone conversation with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

On 10 August, the FSB reported on the prevention of a series of terrorist attacks in the Crimea, which, according to the service, prepared by the Ukrainian intelligence with the aim of destabilizing the socio-political situation on the Peninsula. According to authorities, during the two shootings, which took place near the border with Ukraine, Crimea, killing an FSB officer and member of the defense Ministry of Russia.

According to Russian media, the organizer of sabotage was an employee of the main intelligence Directorate (Gur) of the Ministry of defense of Ukraine Volodymyr Serdyuk.

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin in connection with the incident, said that “Kiev authorities are not looking for a way to solve problems in negotiations, and transferred to the terror.” The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has rejected the accusations of preparing terrorist acts and called them “fantasy”.
