Russia has agreed on a contract for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Egypt

Russia agreed a commercial contract for the construction of the first NPP in Egypt. This is stated in the statement of the official representative of the President of Egypt, reports “RIA Novosti”.

“The Minister (electricity) during the meeting briefed the President with final option of the contract at al-Dabaa, informing him of the agreement with the Russian side all dangling points”, said the representative of Egypt. According to him, the date of signing of the contract will determine immediately after the approval of the document by the state Council of Egypt.

In November 2015, Moscow and Cairo signed an intergovernmental agreement on the construction and operation of nuclear power plants with four reactors in dabaa area, Egypt.

As noted by the head of the state company “Rosatom” Sergey Kiriyenko, the station will be the largest Russian-Egyptian joint project since the creation of the Aswan dam.
