The head of state Vladimir Putin has declared that Russia is ready to cooperate on strengthening confidence and security in the world, reports “Interfax”.
“So we not only remember the horrors of war, but worked together to foster understanding, confidence, security in Europe and in the world,” the President said at the ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the construction of the Russian chapel at the Vrsic pass in Slovenia.
Putin also announced joint plans with the President of Slovenia Borut Pahor to open in Ljubljana a new memorial to Russian and Soviet soldiers who died in Slovenia during the two world wars. According to Putin, the monument will show the Russian-Slovenian “principled position on the inadmissibility of attempts to distort and rewrite history, to justify the crimes that caused the deaths of millions of people.”
According to the Russian President, it was the common position of Russia and Slovenia gives them the opportunity to continue educational work, especially among young people.”
