The head of the Democratic National Committee in the United States has resigned as a row over leaked emails threatens party unity ahead of the convention to nominate a presidential candidate. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s decision to step down follows a leak which suggests party insiders tried to thwart the campaign of Hillary Clinton’s rival, Bernie Sanders. Kim Ghattas reports
