A Turkish court has sent into custody 13 alleged militants “Islamic state” after the attack at the airport in Istanbul, Reuters reported, citing the Dogan Agency.
Among those arrested were three foreigners, said the report. However, it is not specified, citizens of which country they are.
28 June at the Ataturk airport in Istanbul there was a terrorist attack. Three militants opened fire on the visitors of the airport with automatic weapons, and then blew themselves up in different parts of the international terminal. The attack killed 45 people, including 13 foreigners.
July 1, DHA, citing its sources reported that two out of three of the attackers were citizens of Russia. According to DHA, they had a passport in the name of Rakim Bulgarov and Vadim Osmanov. The source of “Interfax” in law enforcement bodies of the North Caucasus Federal district said that a man named Osman Vaginov in Chechnya “never lived”.
In turn, the building of the Yeni Safak reported possible involvement in the attack, a man named Akhmed Chatayev. The Deputy police chief of Vedensky Department of internal Affairs of Chechnya Above Magazinov reported that he received Georgian citizenship, and in 2015 was on the territory of Syria. The ex-President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili stated that chatayev was detained during his reign, however, in 2012, he was released, “since many of the new government leaders proclaimed him a political prisoner”. Thus, according to the current Chairman of the parliamentary Committee on defense and national security of Georgia Irakli Sesiashvili, Chatayev was an intelligence agent during the rule of Saakashvili.”
