The largest Russian producer of television content, LLC “Red square” has filed a lawsuit against the CTC, announced on 24 June the portal Adindex. As follows from the filing of the Court for intellectual property rights, the claim to JSC “CTC Network” (the legal entity STS) were submitted on 20 June.
The case is already filed, the first court session is scheduled for July 18, 2016. The third participant in the proceedings was the Rospatent. According to court definition, “Red square” requires the early termination of legal protection of trademarks No. 349949 and # 366964 “test purchase” assigned “Network television stations”. As the materials on the website of Rospatent, such trademarks across multiple classes of goods and services assigned to a subsidiary of JSC “CTC”. Until 2011, the subsidiary STS also possessed the right of production of television programmes under this brand.
“Currently we are in the process to transfer the trademark rights for “Control purchase” “the First channel”. No dispute on this question, we are surprised by the fact of the claim”, — told RBC representative of the press service of the holding “CTC Media”, which includes STS. To receive the comment of representatives of the “red square” at the time of publication failed.
“Red square” — one of the largest producers of content for the “First channel”, among his projects, the show “the Voice”, “Who wants to be a millionaire”, “guess the melody”, etc. At the end of 2014, research company KVG Research has recognised the company as the leader of the Russian market of TV content.
21 June, the General Director of “red square” Alexey Kisin, reported the newspaper “Kommersant” that the company enters the market of print media. In particular, in September of this year, the market was supposed to do the first issue of the “journal of intelligent customer “Control purchase”. The program “Red square” makes for “the First channel”.
“Red square”, as the base data “SPARK-Interfax” on 100% belongs to Arkady Rotenberg.
The main shareholder “STS Media” are the structures of Alisher Usmanov and Ivan Tavrin. Another 25% of the company through the company Telcrest is controlled by Yury Kovalchuk and other shareholders of Bank “Russia”.
