Felicia is 22, she’s from the Bronx and she’s pregnant. She knows that as soon as she gives birth, Children’s Services may come to the hospital and take her baby away. And she’s determined to stop that happening. The film follows Felicia’s 9 months and through the lens of this one pregnancy, it touches on a number of wider issues, from reproductive rights, government intervention including drug testing of mothers at hospital, and the claims of critics that there are disparities in how the welfare system treats low-income and minority mothers.
