Zakharova called “ugly” incident at the Consulate General of Russia in Odessa

“On 10 June in Odessa Consulate General of Russia again there was an ugly incident, organized by the so-called “Ukrainian activists”, reads the statement of the official representative of the MFA of Russia Maria Zakharova, posted on the Ministry’s website.

According to her, having organized a blockade of the entrance” to the building of the Consulate General, a group of “radical people” broke carrying out in the territory of the Embassy of the actions devoted to Day of Russia.

Zakharov stressed that the incident “once again shows that unfortunately, anti-Russian sentiment in Ukraine continues to be whipped”. She also added that the Ukrainian authorities are “not even able to ensure compliance with generally accepted norms of international law relating to the smooth functioning of diplomatic missions in the country”.

On Friday, June 10, a group of Ukrainian activists blocked the Consulate General of Russia in Odessa, disrupting the reception on occasion of Russia Day. They pelted the Embassy with eggs and put in front of her two gallows.
