“Proton-M” with U.S. satellite launched from the second attempt

The carrier rocket “proton-M” with the upper stage “breeze-M and American telecommunication companion Intelsat DLA-2 was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome. About it reported in a press-service of the Roscosmos.

The Ministry said that the launch was made at 10:10 GMT. “In accordance with the flight program, after 9 minutes, 40 seconds after liftoff of the space head part was separated from the third stage of the carrier rocket and the upper stage “breeze-M” has begun to form a reference orbit”, — stated in the message.

As expected, the withdrawal of the spacecraft into the target orbit and its separation from the upper stage will be held on 10 Jun at 01:41 GMT.

Initially, the launch “proton-M” was scheduled for June 8, but was postponed because of problems with ground equipment launch pad.

The Intelsat DLA2 is designed to provide TV broadcast and communications users in Latin America. Launch mass of the satellite is approximately 6.4 tons. The contract for the launch was concluded between the satellite operator Intelsat and venture ILS, a majority of whose shares belongs to the State space scientific production center Khrunichev.
