Kirov Avenue in Grozny was renamed in honor of the deceased 4 Jun boxer Muhammad Ali. This was reported on the website of the head of government of the Chechen Republic.
In a solemn ceremony of assigning the new name the Avenue was attended by the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, Grozny mayor Muslim Huchiev and other officials.
“We are all with deep sorrow took the news about the departure of Mohammed Ali. Hard to find someone who always admired them. Despite the severity and composure in the ring, in life he was the kindest of souls. He always loved wearing his name because it was the name of our beloved prophet Muhammad,” Kadyrov said at the event.
He said that on the Avenue Mohammed Ali built a Boxing gym. According to Kadyrov, the Avenue is especially popular among young people and leads to the construction of International University. “Sure, the name of this street will raise the spirits of both athletes and students who will be on her to go because Mohammed Ali is a true role model,” — said the head of Chechnya.
