Roskomnadzor from 1 to 28 September will verify how social network “Vkontakte” complies with the law on personal data, write “Izvestia” with reference to the official representative of Roscomnadzor Vadim Ampelonskiy and press service of the social network.
“We will pay attention to all that concerns the processing of personal data of citizens, —said Ampelonskiy. — We are interested in the system operation with personal data of users and employees of the company. Let’s see how personal data is processed where it is stored, how is cross-border transfer, etc.”.
Verification will be undertaken by the office of Roscomnadzor in the North-West Federal district, as the headquarters of “Vkontakte” is located in Saint Petersburg.
In the first quarter of Roskomnadzor checked the Internet-shops Ozon, KupiVip, Lamoda and job search SuperJob. Now the verification process is HeadHunter.
August 1, 2014 entered into force the law “On personal data”, binding foreign and local companies to store and process the personal information of Russians on the territory of Russia. The law exempts from the need to store personal data in the country, foreign embassies and airlines, as well as the reservation system and the media. In addition, large Internet services are required to retain user information for six months.
