Creator crowdfunding platform Wine-Maxim Funding Deburau told Bloomberg that winemakers in Bordeaux and other French regions is ready to receive funding for further development from private investors with limited means. According to him, they can invest in agriculture, who are just starting a business, upgrading or expanding it.

While the largest application for funding by €1 million came from the farm with an area of 42 acres (170 sq. m.), located in appellation Lussac-Saint-Emilion and specializing in the production of red wine.

The platform opened to receive applications for funding in may. It is presented, a subsidiary of the French wine regions of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhone. In future, we expect the inclusion of projects from other countries, such as Italy and South Africa.

Wine-Funding will allow the participants to borrow winemakers and small sums, in exchange for which they will receive not only the return of invested capital, but also the finished product. In France, investments in enterprises of small and medium business guarantee a reduction in the tax burden by 50% for individuals whose net taxable assets exceed €1.3 million.

The projects for inclusion in the Wine-Funding are selected by an expert panel, assembled by Deburau, who is a qualified oenologist and has previously managed two vineyards in Bordeaux.

Investments in viticulture and large companies, reminds Bloomberg. The Agency cites the example of a manufacturer of luxury goods LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, which owns the farm, Château Cheval Blanc, and the insurance company Asa, which acquired Château Pichon Longueville Baron. Among the private investors Bloomberg called actors angelina Jolie and brad pitt who have invested in Château Miraval in Provence, and Chinese billionaire Jack MA.

According to the International Association of winemakers, France last year conceded the first place of Italy in terms of production. They are followed by Spain, USA and Argentina.
