“VKontakte” has commented on reports of theft of 100 million accounts

The administration of the social network “Vkontakte” denied the information about hacking the database of its users. Earlier in specialized publications appeared information that the data is about 100 million pages social network “Vkontakte” hacked and put up for sale.

“Hacking the database “Vkontakte” was not, we are talking about an old database of usernames and passwords, which the fraudsters collected in the period from 2011 to 2012. All mentioned the users login page has varied force”, told RBC press Secretary of “Vkontakte” Eugene Krasnikov.

“As a preventive measure we would like to remind users of “Vkontakte” on the inadmissibility of installing untested software on their devices, the possibility to choose dvuhvekovoy authentication in the account settings, as well as warn them against the use of simple, easy to pick up password”, said Krasnikov.
