In Kiev called “impressive” the number of non-combat losses in the army

Chief military Prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoly Matios called an impressive number of non-combat losses in the Ukrainian army. In interview to TV channel “112” it is reported that from hazing, alcohol and other causes in the army have killed over a thousand people.

“Over a thousand killed, about three thousand wounded. A different non-combat situations: suicide, alcoholism, careless handling of weapons, hazing and the like”, said Matios. However, he did not specify over what period of time has occurred these losses.

“Ukrainian society is sick not only in the army, it hurts as a whole because the value of life against the backdrop of economic disasters and the dynamics of the very strong social awareness leads to the leveling of some universal values. In the army hazing were, are and always will be, but it is impossible to put the military Prosecutor in each platoon and the company”, said Matios.

In February 2016, the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine said that since the beginning of the conflict in the Donbass killed more than 2,600 of the Ukrainian military personnel, about 9,000 were injured. According to the UN, during the conflict in the Donbass killed at least 9.3 million people, about 21.5 thousand were wounded.
