Merkel was forbidden to fly by helicopter after accident in Norway

The defense Ministry of Germany has decided to ban the flights of three Airbus helicopters AS532 Cougar, used by Chancellor Angela Merkel, Reuters reported citing the press-Secretary of the Department.

The solution, according to the interlocutor of the Agency, was made after across the EU has banned flights civil version of these helicopters.

The defense Ministry spokesman said that Germany uses three modified versions of the AS532 Cougar helicopter for government and public purposes. Until the investigation is completed they will not be used, he said.

In Norway 29 APR helicopter crashed H225 Airbus Super Puma, which was carrying passengers from an oil platform of Statoil. The blades of the helicopter separated from the fuselage, and all 13 persons aboard were killed.

European aviation safety Agency (EASA) has determined that the cause of the helicopter crash was metal fatigue in the gearbox. After this the flight Airbus H225 LP and helicopters AS332 L2 Super Puma were banned in the EU.

Earlier, the German newspaper Die Welt reported that the German police will continue to operate other Airbus helicopters models.
