Lukashenko met with the Pope at the Vatican

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko met with Pope Francis in the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican. About it reports BelTA news Agency.

According to the Agency, the meeting lasted approximately 40 minutes, with 25 minutes, the Pontiff and Lukashenko met one-on-one. During the meeting they discussed the development of relations of Belarus with the Roman Catholic Church.

The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere, the Agency said. In the presence of the official delegation, the two parties exchanged gifts. Lukashenko gave the Pope a copy of the cross of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk, made with a unique technique of wood carving, and model coach, made of the same technology, and holographic icon.

The Pontiff, in turn, gave the Belarusian leader three written document about the gospel, the protection of nature and family. Lukashenko has promised to review them and transmit them for storage in the Presidential library. In addition, the Pope gave the head of Belarus artistic image of the olive tree, symbolizing peace. Minsk can be a place of peace,” said the Pontiff.

At the end of the meeting, Lukashenko invited the Pope to Belarus. “Come join us. You will receive so much strength and health, how much at any point of the world,” he said.
