Russia and Abkhazia have agreed to reduce tariffs for international roaming

Deputy Minister of communications and mass communications of Russia Alexei Volin and the head of the state administration of communications and mass media of Abkhazia Lasha Shamba signed a Memorandum of reduction of tariffs for international roaming. This is stated in the message on the website of the Ministry of communications.

The Ministry stressed that the signing of the document was held with participation of representatives of mobile operators of Russia and Abkhazia. From the Russian side the Memorandum was signed by the company “MTS”, “VimpelCom”, “MegaFon” and “T2 mobile”, with the Abkhaz — “Aquafon-GSM” and “mobile”.

Hand “seriously concerned about the current level of tariffs for roaming and confirm their willingness to act in the interests of the citizens of both countries,” reads the Memorandum.

It is assumed that the signatories, the operators will revise the existing tariffs for voice communication and data transfer to reduce prices. “This is especially true for millions of Russian tourists who annually leave on rest to Abkhazia”, — stated in the message.

The citizens of Russia recognizing the independence of Abkhazia, it is possible to enter the country on the internal Russian passports. Abkhazia is also recognized members of the United Nations Venezuela, Nicaragua and Nauru. From 1 April 2016, entered into force the visa regime of entrance to the Republic for citizens of those countries with which Abkhazia signed an intergovernmental agreement on mutual visa-free travel. According to the resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations, Abkhazia is part of Georgia.
