The state Duma has raised the retirement age for officials

The State Duma adopted in the third final reading the law on increase of the retirement age for civil servants, municipal servants as well as persons who hold public office, public positions in the regions and municipal offices, according to the website of the Parliament.

In accordance with the document, the age of retirement for these categories of citizens will increase annually by six months, until, until it reaches 65 years for men and 63 years for women. As a General rule the retirement age in Russia is currently 60 years for men and 55 for women.

The document provides for the increase from 15 to 20 years minimum length of service of the civil service, which gives the right to pension for years of service and determine its size. In addition, the bill proposes to increase from 60 to 65 years the age limit of stay on civil service.

If approved by the Federation Council and the President of Russia the law comes into force on 1 January 2017.
