The head of the U.S. Navy explained the maneuvers of the aircraft of Russia’s desire to “send a signal”

Russian planes, allowing dangerous approach over the Baltic sea by American aircraft, trying not to provoke incidents. This was stated by the head of the U.S. Navy John Richardson, reports the Associated Press.

“I don’t think the Russians are trying to provoke an incident. I think they are trying to send a signal,” he said. “I think it’s pretty clear that they want to tell us what they see that we are in the Baltic sea,” explained Richardson.

He added that the actions of the Russian aircraft increase the chances for “tactical blunder”, but in case any incident happens, the US will seek to smooth tensions between the two countries. “We expect a certain normalization”, — concluded the head of the Navy.
