Prime Minister of Ukraine Yatsenyuk resigned

According to the publication “Apostrophe”, on his resignation Yatsenyuk declared on air of transfer “10 minutes with Prime Minister” which was published on the channel “Espreso TV”. “Starting today, you can see your tasks are wider than the powers of the head of the government,” he said

In his speech Yatsenyuk said that the proposal of his resignation will be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada on April 12. He also said that to take the decision to resign from his post it has prompted a political crisis in Ukraine.

In the same programme he thanked the colleagues on fraction in the Parliament for their support and spoke about the achievements of the Ukrainian government under his leadership. Yatsenyuk has assured that his faction “popular front” will remain in the parliamentary coalition.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who was one of the leaders of the Euromaidan movement, headed the government of Ukraine on 27 February 2014, after the overthrow of President Viktor Yanukovych. He retained his post after the election of the new head of state Petro Poroshenko.
