General Victor Zolotov

Vladimir Putin signed a decree appointing army General Victor Zolotov, the chief of the newly created National Guard. The decree published on the Kremlin website.

“Assign Zolotov Victor Vasilievich the Director of the Federal service the national guard troops of the Russian Federation commander of the national guard of the Russian Federation, relieving him of his duties”, is spoken in the document text. It takes effect from the date of signing.

About the creation of the National guard, the President announced on 5 April at a meeting with the interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, head of the FDCS Victor Ivanov, Zolotov also. It will be a new body of Executive power, created on the basis of Internal troops of the Ministry of interior, whose tasks will include combating terrorism and organized crime.

Previously RBC a source in the Kremlin said that the national guard will actually be separate from the Ministry of internal Affairs structure. The President’s press Secretary Dmitry Peskov confirmed to RBC that the national guard will be directly subordinated to Putin.

Tuesday on the Kremlin website appeared a decree on the inclusion Zolotova a part of the permanent members of the Security Council.

In may 2014, the President appointed Zolotov first Deputy interior Minister, commander of interior Ministry troops. Prior to that, he worked for six months as first Deputy commander-in-chief. To work in the Ministry of internal Affairs Zolotov 13 years in the Federal guard service (FSO) and the head of security service of the President of Russia.

After Zolotov went to work in the Ministry of internal Affairs, by his decree Putin awarded him the rank of General of the army. It happened in November 2015. To it almost 10 years Zolotov had the rank of Colonel.
