Russian cyclist Anastasia Chulkova and Pavel Yakushevsky have passed a positive doping test for Meldonium. About it reports the Agency “R-Sport” with reference to a source familiar with the situation.
According to the Agency, athletes passed a positive doping test in a period without competitions.
In the Federation of Bicycle sports of Russia refused to comment on this information, reports “Interfax”.
“We are waiting for official information. Not yet commented,” — said the press service of the Federation.
Chulkova is a former world champion in track Cycling. In 2012 she won the race on points during the world Cup in Melbroune. Yakushevskaya in 2013 became the bronze medalist of the European championship in Apeldoorn, where he was part of the team sprint.
As previously reported by “R-Sport”, in the first two months of this year, 40 doping tests on Meldonium among Russian athletes was positive. The drug is banned for use by athletes from January 2016. The source Agency stressed that the situation involved athletes from more than ten sports.
Among those caught in the use of Meldonium — tennis player Maria Sharapova, skater Paul Kulizhnikov, short-trackers semen Elistratov and Ekaterina Konstantinova, swimmer Yuliya Efimova, Nadezhda Sergeeva bobsleistku, cyclist Eduard Vorganov and others.
Earlier it became known that the State Duma introduced a bill which provides for criminal liability for inducing the athlete to the doping. The document proposes to punish coaches or specialists in sports medicine by a fine up to 500 thousand rubles. If the coach will use doping in respect of an athlete without his knowledge, it threatens to deprivation of liberty for up to five years.
