Poroshenko has signed a decree on demobilization

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree on the retirement of the military that were drafted during the fourth wave partial mobilization. It is reported by the presidential administration.

The President has released 45 thousand military personnel called to service by the decree of July 21, 2014 and the decree of 14 January 2015, the report said.

This Poroshenko stressed that demobilization “will in no way affect the high level of defense capability of the state, and decreasing the size of the group, which is located in the East of the state and the Crimean isthmus”.

In addition, the President noted the campaign’s success in signing contracts with the military — from the beginning of 2016 made about 14 thousand contracts for service in the Ukrainian army.

In September 2015 Poroshenko has postponed the next wave of mobilization in the country. He explained that the implementation of the ceasefire in the Donbass.

Last sixth wave of mobilization in Ukraine ended on August 17, 2015. According to the defense Ministry of Ukraine, it was implemented only halfway. In September the Minister of defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak said that the size of the army over the past year has doubled, from 146 thousand to 280 thousand people. He noted that in conducting a new wave of mobilization for that period of time was unnecessary.
