The Ministry of justice commented on the possibility of transferring Savchenko Ukraine

In the Russian Ministry of justice explained that the application for the transfer of Hope Savchenko to the Ukrainian side will consider, as soon as it will be made available to the Department. About it reports “Interfax” with reference to the press service of the Ministry of justice.

“As of March 23 appeals on the transfer of Hope Savchenko to the Ministry of justice of Russia did not arrive”, — stated in the message Department.

As explained in the Ministry of justice, the motion for the possible transfer of Savchenko will be considered in accordance with the criminal procedure code of Russia and the Convention on the transfer of convicted persons for further serving of punishment 1998.

In October 2015, the Ministry of justice stated that the transfer of pilots will be possible only if the Ukrainian side recognizes the decision of a Russian court. Then, the office also appealed to the Convention 1998.

Donetsk city court in Russia has sentenced the Ukrainian pilots Hope Savchenko to 22 years of imprisonment. The judge found her guilty in the murder of Russian journalists of the TV company VGTRK: Anton Voloshin and Igor Kornelyuk.

Itself Savchenko pleaded not guilty. According to her, she led the adjustment of fire and not involved in the death of journalists. She also claims that during the attack she was captured by the militia and was in the center of Lugansk.
