Chechen Ombudsman Nurdi Nukhazhiyev asked the Department of the TFR in the Republic with the statement for excitation of criminal case against correspondent of “Novaya Gazeta” Elena Milashina. This was reported on the official website of the Ombudsman.
As explained in the message, Nukhazhiyev accuses journalist in the dissemination of false information about the speaker of the Parliament of the Chechen Republic Magomed Daudova with the aim of discrediting his honor and dignity.
It comes miushinau the material published in Novaya Gazeta on March 10. In it, said Nukhazhiev, the journalist claims that the Chechen police on the orders of Daudova tried to kidnap one of the activists of the “Committee against torture”.
“Elena Milashina authentically knew that in respect of Magomed Daudov not initiated a criminal case under article “kidnapping”, there is no conviction, and also that everyone charged with a criminal offence shall be presumed innocent until his guilt is proved as provided by Federal law and established by a legally effective verdict,” found on the website of the Ombudsman is a quote from his statement to the Investigation Committee.
According to Nukhazhiev, the actions of Milashina contains signs of the crime provided by article 128.1 part 5 of the criminal code( slander, accusing a person of committing a grave or especially grave crimes). In his statement, he asked the head of the Department of the TFR in Chechnya Sergei Sokolov to bring on this fact criminal case and to bring Milashina to criminal liability.
